Ther are plenty of things to see and do in Alcudia, such as beaches, hiking areas, museums, shops, and a marina, there is something here guaranteed to appeal to everyone.

Alcudia is located in the Spanish autonomous community of the Balearic Islands. Nestled on the northeast coast of the largest of the Balearic Islands, Majorca, Alcudia is the island`s northern major tourist city. Many choose to take their holidays here because of the holiday resort feel and the many outdoor activities that are available here

Alcudia has plenty of beaches - plenty of kilometres worth, in fact. Some beaches are smaller and receive less attention, such as Alcanada Beach, which has beautiful turquoise water and small pebbles instead of sand. This beach is located about three kilometres from Puerto Alcudia, which is Alcudia`s main beach. Puerto Alcudia is a beach that has warm, white sand, beautiful and clear waters, and plenty of shallow places to paddle. Other beaches in Alcudia include Playa de Muro Beach, which is a pleasant long stretch that starts after Puerto Alcudia, and also S`Illot Beach, which is known for its beautiful grey pebbles that take the place of the sand on other beaches.

Culture and Sightseeing

Sightseeing is one of the most popular things to do during a holiday in Spain, and Alcudia has several sites worth visiting during your stay. One of these is the well known Alcudia Old Town. Alcudia`s Old Town has a large, impressive fourteen foot wall that stretches around the city. The wall spans the perimeter of the city, which is one of the most visited cities in all of Majorca. Within Alcudia`s Old Town, you will find markets held several times during the week, small shops, restaurants, and the city offers guided tours for those who are interested in seeing the sights within the city, with the North of Mallorca Highlights Guided Day Tour. There`s even well preserved houses contained in Alcudia`s Old Town that pre-dates all the way back to the 1200`s!

For those interested in seeing the old Roman architecture that still has a place in the city, the Church of St. Jaume is a great place to visit. The church had begun being planned in the year 1302 by the King of Majorca, Jaume II. While the church spent many years under construction, it was finally finished (and reconstructed) in 1893. The neo-Gothic design, which is popular in many different churches throughout all of Spain, is present here, as well.

Art and architecture museums are always wonderful places to visit while on holiday, and the Yannick & Ben Jakober Foundation has plenty to offer. From modern contemporary art to a nature and art exhibit, there are a lot of things to see here. The museum also offers an educational program that will help enlighten both children and adults alike about the amazing world of art.

While there are no real bullfights still held today, the Bullring in Alcudia is a popular must-see for some tourists who are interested in the culture in the city. The Bullring is located in Old Town, and along with being a great tourist location, it is also home to several festivals and celebrations throughout the year.

Water Sports

Alcudia offers plenty in the way of water sports. Whether you are interested in boating, jet skiing, or even parasailing, check out the marina located within the city. While the marina is popular for boats and jet skiing alike, many of the beaches have areas that are wonderful for discovering below the sea`s surface whilst scuba diving and snorkelling.  Some of these places include the a snorkelling trip with the Active Alcudia company.  Another company that is known for snorkelling is Challenge Mallorca, which focuses on not only snorkelling, but also kayaking! These activities can be pursued separately or together in a challenge type activity. All of the activities are led by highly trained guides who will gladly teach you the ropes.

Restaurants and Bars

Spain is known for its wonderful culinary experience, and Alcudia is no exception. Full of restaurants, bars, and pubs, there are plenty of places to get scrumptious cuisine, delicious tapas, and great conversation with friends. If you are in the mood for a smaller meal, try one of Alcudia`s wonderful tapas bars, such as Ca`n Punyetes, which serves both full and half portions of some of their most famous foods like fried octopus, roasted pepper salad, and ham and beans. Another great tapas restaurant is Danny`s Gastro Bar, which has both full sized portions and tapas, including fish and chips, nachos, and various steak and chicken dishes.

Family Entertainment

Family entertainment is very important when it comes to going on a holiday with children (and adults!). Alcudia has plenty to offer in terms of activities for families, including golfing at the Alcanda Golf Club. The golf club has a beautiful golf course with paradisiac scenery that will leave your breathless! If you don`t quite fancy spending the day out on the green, you can spend it having a blast at Alcudia`s water park, Hidropark. With a large swimming pool and a variety of different water slides for all ages, Hidropark is a great way to cool off if the hot Alcudia summers get to be a little bit much! Hidropark also offers a children`s center, a wave pool, mini golf, and a restaurant.

Alcudia really is a wonderful city to visit, with plenty to see and do. The resort city offers a lot of activities, restaurants, and tourist locations that anyone who is looking for a relaxing holiday will fancy. Embrace the culture of the area as you learn about its history by taking guided tours, sightseeing, and eating at one of the wonderful restaurants that offer fresh, delicious meals.
